HERO Montreal

Preview

Hi to all. It is PPV time so see how's your piggy bank doin and make sure you tune up for the action. It is HERO 54: Kummola vs Yakovchenko we're talking about so missing the event is not an option. We have 10 fights featuring names that carry a lot of star power. Kummola will put his belt on the line against former titleholder Igor Yakovchenko and Tobias Larsson will make an attempt to earn a title shot and take what he feels is rightfully so against Jyytti so get ready for a scrap. I'll shed light on the other phenomenal battles we have for you:

Prelims

"Powdered" Toast Man (3-3-0) v Terrell "Balls So Hard" Suggs (4-7-0)

Featherweight

A very even match up to start things off. Toast Man is on a role with two consecutive wins but Terrell Suggs will make everything in his power to spoil the party for his opponent.

Johnny Lau (2-7-0) v "The Bull" Ian Miles (6-4-0)

Middleweight

Those two prefer to stand and trade and I guess a KO is the most likely outcome. Both guys are coming from tough losses and that fight si an opportunity to redeem themselves, an opportunity they are determined to make the most of.

Jacky Ler (7-5-0) v Tommi "T-bomb" Talentti (6-10-0)

Featherweight

I gotta say I don't remember a boring Jacky Ler fight and given the fact he faces one of the most experienced veterans on the roster, who is on a serious losing streak and needs to impress, I say this fight will be a barnburner.

Henderson Braga (6-3-0) v Kurt "Intensity: Lock (0-1-0)

Heavyweight

Kurt Lock is probably the best wrestler in the heavyweight division, but if he doesn't use that in a creative way, he will be in for a beating against Braga, who is equally dangerous on the feet and on the ground.

Stevie "Superkick" Censor (1-1-0) v "Good Guy" Greg Stan (7-4-1)

Middleweight

In terms of striking, Stevie Censor is a guy, young fighters should look up to because he is the real deal. Greg Stan is a really well rounded though and he has the wrestling and BJJ knowledge to make Stevie Censor look like amateur, unless he gets his head blasted into the 14th row by a headkick or something.

Main Card

Pyry Perkele (11-6-0) v Lennart "The Anvil" Stahlhandske (6-4-0)

Heavyweight

Pyry is one of the solid heavyweights and he is a tough match up for just about anyone and "The Anvil" is not an exception. Lennart scored an impressive KO last time out, let's see whether he can build up on that, or Pyry will be too much for him.

Taneli Hauki (8-1-0) v Eric Morgan (9-2-0)

Middleweight

They say you are as good as your last fight and if that's the case Taneli Hauki is a future champion for sure. That is a bit far fetched but if he gets past Eric Morgan he will definitely make his case for the n1 contender spot. Morgan is a top dawg and I am sure this won't be a walk in the park for Hauki, especially if this goes to the ground.

Fernando Emerlong (10-5-0) v Atli Thor (9-0-0)

Heavyweight

Fernando Emerlong is a really technical striker and his opponents usually find themselves in a world of trouble when they stand long enough with him. The same can be said about his opponent and that is exactly what makes this match up so intriguing. Atli Thor is arguably the most promising prospect in the HERO heavyweight division right now and that is for a reason. If he wins against Emerlong, I'd say the other 265ers will have some serious competition.

"Kruel" Kale Kummola (10-0-0) v Igor Yakovchenko (10-5-0)

Lightweight Title fight!

Two things can be said about Kale Kummola - undefeated and undisputed. Igor Yakovchenko will do everything possible to change that and we know what he is capable of. The former champion has excellent cardio and is very good at dictating the pace of his fights and overwhelming his opponents into the later rounds, so that is something that Kale has to be aware of. Kummola is a rare talent though and he dominates in fights that he seems outmatched on paper. He breaks his opponents' will and then breaks their faces, a strategy that seems to work every single time! Both fighters are really well rounded and it is tough to decide who has the upper hand. I guess we will find that out in a couple of hours.

Jyrki Jyytti (12-5-0) v "Kroll" Tobias Larsson (16-4-0)

Heavyweight

Now that is what I call and intriguing match up! Their last fight was one of the best things I've witnessed inside a cage (aside from a bear orgy I saw at the zoo when I was a kid) and it will be really interesting how the rematch will unfold. Tobias Larsson is the HW GOAT in my eyes and it will be really hard for someone to surpass his achievements but he took a serious beating last time out. Although he lost by an unfortunate cut, Tita Zen was kicking his ass big time so "Kroll" finds himself in a position where he has to work his way back to the top again. Jyytti has notched some impressive submission victories and I am eager to find out who has elevated his game more since last time. In their first fight Jyytti started to take the upper hand in the championship rounds but this one will be a 3 rounder, he has to change his gameplan if he wants to do something memorable. A key fight for the HW division no doubt so don't blink people!
